Et par uger inden afgang til Island blev der lagt planer om både indkøb af garn til egen projekter samt en færdigstrikket cardigan fra Farmers Market, der laver det lækreste strik med en super pasform.

Jeg ville købe garn til trøjer til både mig selv og pigerne, ikke fordi det ikke kunne købes her hjemme, men fordi jeg tænkte, at det ville være sjovt at have islandske trøjer i selv-hentet islandsk uld.

 

Jeg havde sparet op, målrettet, til både uld og andet lækkert, men en slidt Panda tømte kuverten med de opsparede sedler og gnavede sig også ind i den i forvejen slunkne konto. Mange bandeord og tårer. Mange.

Udsigten til indkøb af ret meget mere end et par meter uld var noget tåget.

Jeg kiggede på alt det uld, som ligger i skufferne her i mit værelse og sagde beroligende til mig selv “Såh såh Anne, her er garn nok, mere end nok, og du kan jo altid får en trøje deroppe fra, måske er kvaliteten af dem fra FM slet ikke så lækker, som du bilder dig ind. Skidt pyt!”

 

Det hjalp ikke ret meget.

Damen var ked og havde lyst til at sparke bil og spareliv hen hvor peberet gror…

 

Men heldigvis kan man jo ose og blive voldsomt inspireret. Og det gjorde jeg så. Kiggede og kiggede og prøvede og målte og vendte og drejede. Og der var nok at tage fat på og i. Stakkevis af sweaters, smukke smukke sweaters i det lækreste lette uld i grå og brune nuancer.

Autentiske islandske, håndstrikkede med navnetags på, så man kunne se hvem, der havde ført pindende, nogen havde sprællet mere end andre, noget var smukkere strikket end andet, men det meste var rigtigt rigtigt lækkert lavet.

 

Måske var det fint nok, at jeg ikke havde penge til at hjembringe en færdigstrikket, for jeg havde ikke kunnet vælge, brun, grå, lys, lukket eller åben, lidt eller meget mønster. Ikke let, når det hele syntes af passe og egentlig også klæde.

Trøjerne fik lov at blive på Island men inspirationen pakkede jeg ned og tog med…

 

Og hjemme igen har jeg nok fået tygget så meget på dem, at jeg har været i stand til at kredse mig mere ind på, hvad der skal til af islandsk til mig selv.

En lidt grov cardigan med lyslås, fin og sart grå med mørkere mønster og trøjen på billedet herover bliver den, der lægger opskrift til. Og jeg er sikker på, at det hele ender lykkeligt selv om garnet så bliver købt her på min hjemegn.

 

Bogen  –  den store flotte strikkebog  –  har Frida sendt mig engang, hvor hun synes at jeg fortjente, og jeg har bladret i den så mange gange og ville i virkeligheden kunne starte fra en ende og så ellers bare strikke derud af til mig, til pigerne, til en enkelt mand og alle de småbørn, som myldrer ind og ud af mit liv.

Det er en fantastisk bog med smukke billeder og en lille gang historie om strik på Island.

 

Jeg elsker den bog, Frida, tak igen fordi du forærede mig den, dengang hvor jeg var mere halv end hel.

Snart vil jeg svanse omkring i en islænder og sende gode tanker til din smukke ø med alt det dejlige på…

 

Okay  –

jeg indrømmer, at jeg trods – totalt rungende portemone – dog fik uld med hjem til ét projekt.

Uld til en slags jakke.

Pris?

Mindre end 2 pizza’er fra den lokale joint!

Og mindre en 2 gin og tonic på en Reykjaviks bar. Så dem undværede jeg.

 

Men det er en helt anden historie.

Og jakken ser ikke det mindste islandsk ud.

Så derfor  –

inden længe mønsterstrik i Lopi.

 

Måske skulle man tage en lille ferieudflugt for trods alt at hjemføre garnet fra et lidt mere eksotisk sted end en provinsbys gågade.

Måske var en tur til Uldfisken noget?!

Uld og fisk er da ret islandsk…

    ja, den er nemlig bare så god, den bog, et rigtig vellykket udpluk af autentiske modeller, og alligevel indimellem lidt med en twist. glæder mig meget at du synes om den. og hvis du vil, og har tålmodighed til at vente, så kan jeg godt köbe uld til dig her i byen og sende ned, den er jo meget billigere så, og så kan jeg senere når jeg mangler noget fra Danmark give dig et praj.

    Nogle gange villedet være skønt med et pengetræ i haven, det har vi desværre ikke, vi havde en gang et stort smukt kastanjetræ, men det er en helt anden historie. Jeg tænker at din islandskesweater bliver skøn ikke mindst fordi du jo har følt og gramset på the real thing. Modellen på billedet er rigtig fin, Istex har også mange fine modeller. Glæder mig til at se din version.

    Dumme bil,hvorfor kan de biler aldrig gå i stykker på et belejligt tidspunkt ??? :),godt du trods alt kom afsted og havde en dejlig tur,som gav inspiration til garnet i skufferne derhjemme,god tur til uldfisken,total yndlingsbutik

    Ja, det er godt at kreativiteten ikke forsvandt sammen med pengene:) træls at skulle lade sig begrænse på den måde- men det lyder ikke helt som begrænsing nærmere som udvælgelse.

    Hej Anne

    Jeg er også pjattet med især islandsk strikdesign. Men da jeg sidste år var på Island, fandt jeg kun meget stikkende og decideret kradsende trøjer og garn. Har du et godt tip til, hvor man skal lede, hvis man skulle komme på de kanter igen? 🙂

      Jeg vil tro, at garnets blødhed afhænger af hænderne, der føler, Karin, for jeg synes jo ikke at islandsk uld stikker, jeg kan gå med det direkte på huden, så jeg er ikke den rette at spørge.
      Men jeg kan fortælle dig, at der er meget stor forskel på, om trøjerne er vaskede eller ej, Lopi garnet som mange af trøjerne er strikket i bliver meget blødere, når det er vasket.

      Så jeg kan ikke rigtigt hjælpe dig med det, desværre. Men du kan jo købe et Istex hæfte med en masse af deres opskrifter i og så få en sweater strikket op i noget uld, som du ved du kan holde ud.
      Der er også en del gratis opskrifter på deres hjemmeside…

    Jeg kom helt til at tænke på Marguritte Viby og sangen “Før vi fik bil”, da jeg hørte din meget levende beskrivelse. Det er altså øv, når man har sparet op og pengene så må gå til noget helt andet. Godt du alligevel fik lidt islandsk uld med hjem. Og nu kan du jo køre til Uldfisken i bil, hvis det skal være.

    Hejsa, den der cardigan som er på mønstret du har taget et billede af fra en bog, mon du har det liggende så man kan rekvirere en kopi, jeg har ledt og ledt og ledt efter en helt rigtige trøje og så fandt jeg den her, men mangler en strikke opskrift… 🙁 måske du kan gøre min dag god..

      Hej Rikke! Det er ulovligt at tage kopier af opskrifter med copyright, så jeg kan desværre ikke hjælpe dig. Men opskriften er fra bogen på billedet ovenover, så skynd dig på biblioteket og hent den, der er virkelig mange mange gode modeller i.
      Bogen er oversat til dansk og hedder Islandsk strik.
